All park visitors are required to pay an entrance fee upon entry year-round. Some fees are available for prepayment online. The entrance gate does not accept cash. Mount Rainier National Park will not charge nonresident entry fees in 2026.

Visitor Policies

  • Entrance Fee

    All park visitors are required to pay an entrance fee upon entry year-round. Some fees are available for prepayment online. Mount Rainier National Park will not charge nonresident entry fees in 2026. The entrance gate does not accept cash.

  • Permits

    Visitors can use Wilderness, Climbing, and Special Use permits for the dates, times, and location their permit is valid to enter the park.  You will still need to pay the park entrance fee.

  • Pet Policy

    At Mount Rainier, pets are NOT allowed in the following areas (service animals excepted):

    • On trails**
    • In the wilderness and/or off-trail areas
    • Inside buildings
    • In amphitheaters
    • On roads closed for winter
    • Our Inns are no-pet properties with the exception of service animals.

    **The Pacific Crest Trail is the one exception to this rule. Dogs on a leash no longer than 6 feet are permitted on the Pacific Crest Trail.

    Pets are welcome at Mount Rainier, but they and their owners must practice the following (not in lodging):

    • At all times, pets must be on a leash not more than six feet in length or in a crate.
    • At all times, pets must be with and under the control of their owners.
    • Owners must pick up and dispose of all fecal matter.

    Pets are permitted at Mount Rainier in the following areas:

    • In parking lots
    • In campgrounds
    • On paved roads open to public vehicles, and no more than 25 feet from paved roads
  • Smoking Policy

    All facilities within Mount Rainier National Park are non-smoking.

  • Snow Chain Policy

    All vehicles are required to carry tire chains when traveling in the park during the winter season (November 1 – May 1). This requirement applies to all vehicles (including four-wheel-drive), regardless of tire type or weather conditions.

Reservation Policies

  • Deposits

    As of January 1, 2020, National Park Inn and Paradise Inn will require a one night room and tax deposit on all reservations. If you have any questions please contact the reservations department at 855-755-2275 M-F 10 am-3 pm

  • Cancellations

    Our cancellation policy is $25 up to 7 days prior to arrival and one night room and tax within 7 days of arrival.

  • Pre-Authorization

    There is a pre-authorization deposit of up to $250 (depending on the number of days and members in the party) charged on the credit/debit card on file. After room charges and room inspection has been confirmed, the balance of these funds will be released back to the card. The availability of these funds will vary based on your financial institution.

  • Cooking

    There is no cooking permitted in rooms. Cooking in a room will result in a fee being charged to your credit card on file.
